the beginning & the end of Oceanic, recorded live in Tokyo
🖤
This sounds exactly like the studio version!! God I hope I get to see them live in my lifetime! Jonsi is up there with Jeff Buckley, Thom Yorke, Damien Rice and ANOHNI when it comes to vocalists who I feel don’t get enough praise. Just beautiful.
Sigur ros the type of band to make the most beautiful piece of music ever and not even name it
I remember bawling my eyes out at this show. Stunning .
Espectacular.
goddamn it, again with the uncontrollable tears im at work ffs 😤
Jonsi wasn't bowing his guitar here.
Whether I´m sad or not, I allways come back to this video. This music, and particullary this version, touches me inside in a way I cannot express in words and I don´t understand a single word in Jonsi´s mouth. I live for things like these, tank you Sigur Rós.
He doesn't sing words in a normal context. They don't mean anything (or they mean just what you want them to mean). It is a made up language, used mainly on the ( )-album, called Volenska or Hopelandic in english. "It’s nonsense-singing, designed to convey the absence of meaning. A blank slate for the listener to conjure their own significance." It really makes you to just listen. The voice is "just" another instrument, and it's perfect.
@@pleino8715 I'm aware of all of that :)
Listening to Ocean since Fluxion They're so underrated
Amazing!
Esta canción siempre me hace llorar. Para mí dice "Viste la luz" y "Estás brillando solo"
i love it
i was there. it was special. tom sizemore was the talk show guest. weird segway to this, some of the most honestly and openly sensitive music ever.
I was there too….where were you seated?
The same red face as 2022 world tour. I crying rt
Hands down the most amazing experience live and online. Sigur Ros touched apon something rarely felt and showed us music has no bounds. Thank you🙂
This is one of a handful music videos on UA-cam that actually makes me cry every time I see and hear it... this is heartbreakingly beautiful. And I fully agree that it is the very best live performance of "vaka" found anywhere. As a fan commented under a live bo****leg version of "Fly" by Nick Drake: "This is the best version of anything I've ever heard".
Any artist who doesn't try to captivate and stays true to what they believe is great, turns out, they are genius. These guys, performances like this, is pure genius. And I cannot comprehend any single human who does not appreciate their passion, his voice, this song. I just want to thank them.
Rejoicing deep sorrow.
The studio audience must’ve wept
I think the love of my life is falling away from me. Nothing I do seems to change her distance from me. We live together but, we're so far apart. She is my life. But it seems, I am not hers anymore. I've been in perpetual limbo for months. It's killing me..and her. I can see it in her eyes. I just wish I could make her happy like I used to.. Kasandra, I love you.
magnifique
What keyboard is jonsi playing in the intro?
Oh wow...........I remember watching this live the night it aired. I forget what show it was though? But I remember being just _transfixed_ and in awe. Had never heard of the band before. Afterwards, I literally had to turn off the tv....and just go lie down....to think, and feel. I felt changed as a human being. I kept thinking 'who the fuck _was_ that band??' It sent me down a journey that genuinely altered my perception of music and life itself. This isn't my favorite track of theirs(but it's close), but being it was the first thing I ever heard from them....boy does it hit hard every single time I hear it. What a song....the sense of aching yearning almost physically hurts.
Which is your favorite of them?
I listen Sigur ross till i die ❤
Same ❤️
You shine on and on in my eyes.
I wish they had a studio version of this where Jonsi sang that 2nd half like this.... Easily the best version, here, even with a few sour/off notes from the strings - which have become part of it, now that I've listened to it so many times
Love this song. This is my favourite one. So beautiful...
cant stop to drink just opened another one
this physically hurt to watch, so many memories came back
Steven Wilson needs to hear this band:)
this was Carson Daly Live Show. btw
:' ) I sat at night watching this when it aired.
yes Georg Hólm, WE LOVE ST. PAULI!!
Does anyone feel alone?
Page Winchester yes I do :/
to me, he sings "you're so alone". so yeah.
Am I the only one that always wants the main piano riff to go down 2 more steps at the end of the lower part? I feel as if it would be more sad that way.
Blackheart Yes and no.
Yeah, I noticed that. It's an uneven number of measures. I think they do it to keep it edgy!
Also Forever & Always EMOTIONAL good or bad🤘😌
I Still think this is the best performance of this song... Damn
Vanessa Saurin yes dude
After all this years. Yes.

Not good for the heart :(
5 years past, did you change your feeling?
lyrics please
+pato bitar there is no lyrics for this whole album, it is a fantasy language
It does sound like he sings ''you sat along the fire, you saw the light, you saw" But it's indeed gibberish he singing. He uses his voice more as an instrument.
I was witness to this beautiful song live once, this version reminds me of it!
lyrics please
I feel like this has been used on a soundtrack for movie or TV show, but not sure.
+Jonathan Bush Vanilla sky
After the wedding
One of their songs (not this one) was used for the first trailer for dead island video game
@@JRRODYY it was Vanilla Sky but I think it was untitled #4 not untitled #1.
Jonsi, amazing voice!
uy que majismo eres así después de 8 años...
Does anyone know what talk show this is?
Carson Daly
jamebonez Check out their appearance on The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn, too.
+jamebonez This was on Jay Leno, not Carson Daly

oh heck ! its an astonishing piece, reaches into parts other music cant reach
Jesus, that ending.
DannyG683 exactlly it's amazing
I just balled my eyes out to it
You shine on and on in my eyes
A loss that I suffered 7 years ago just resurfaced into my being just recently. August 16, 2007, my world turned dark when my friend passed away. Before he died, I should have said what needs to be said and tell him how much he meant to me. Even though I made peace with him through his death, this song resonates my sorrow and the pain that burrowed deep within my soul. Rest in Peace, Timmy Rudd.
***** Thank you for your healing words. Today is seven years since the angels called him home. I like to think everytime I speak to him, a breeze flies past me, as if he were answering to me
Love him by living a beautiful life. Hold nothing back. He'll like that.
The_Monk_Weee! Thank you. I will do my best.
I think this is the most powerfull live version of VAKA available to watch
yes indeed vienna audio is awesome
See Live on Walt Disney 2017, maybe The Second most Powerfull
jonsi can't hit Those notes anymore so he sings it differently so this is one of the few recordings of the actual ending
@@Agaetis181 Yeah the last time I saw them live he tried to sing it like this but he couldn't hit the high notes :( It was sad but it was still beautiful.
I know this was posted 16 and 8 years ago but I just wanted to say I wholeheartedly agree, this is by far my favourite live vaka version and my undiagnosed autistic ar$e was listening to this on repeat in my teenhood. Vaka is hands down my all time favourite track - everything from music, vocals to the music video - if you're here still in 2022 i appreciate you. that is all.
Just speechless. This song always makes me cry. For me it says "You saw the light" and "You're shining alone"
At the end I hear. "You shine on and on in my eyes."
@@ekoms108 omg that's what I always heard too 🥰🥰
I've always heard: "You sat along the fire, you saw the light"
You shine on in my eyes.
+Caleb Dutton It does sound like that, even though he isn't speaking real words on this whole album.
Magistic
